Jagan Gopinath

Jagan Gopinath’s journey from the field of agricultural economics to the trading floors of global commodity markets spans over two decades - and has been defined by a relentless pursuit of the intersection between theory and practice.

An alumnus of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Jagan built his career at the heart of some of the world’s most respected commodity firms - ITC Limited in India, as Profit Center Head in Olam International across the African continent, and Arvind Limited, where he led Cotton Sourcing and Risk Management. Along the way, he served as Associate Director and India’s representative on the Board of Directors of the International Cotton Association, Liverpool, UK.

Throughout his career, he has been driven by a singular idea: that durable alpha in markets comes not from any single analytical lens, but from the disciplined integration of macroeconomic insight, fundamental analysis, structural participation data, technical signals and risk management - the framework that underpins every report you will read on this platform.

Jagan is currently pursuing a PhD in Strategic Management at IIM Kozhikode, researching the strategic dimensions of digital transformation. An avid reader of history, economics and strategic management, he draws as much inspiration from the sweep of historical events and economic thought as he does from the data on his trading screen - a perspective that deeply informs his approach to markets.

He lives with his wife Smija, a faculty member at Kerala Agricultural University, and is inspired by his two sons Sidharth and Adhvik, who are carving their own paths in science.
